James Laing was elected to the company board in 1983.
Jim graduated from Stanford University in 1980 with an A.B. Degree in Political Science. He then attended and graduated from The University of Michigan Law School with a J.D. Degree in 1983. Mr. Laing practiced law in Chicago, Illinois for a decade rising to the level of Partner in the firm of Keck, Mahin, and Cate before moving to Wolverine Mutual as General Counsel in 1994.
Prior to his promotion to President in 2005, he served as General Counsel and Vice President of the Claims Department. He has served on numerous local and charitable boards throughout his time at Wolverine.
